A Visit to Dock 79 / Photo Gallery
August 18, 2016

An August 2016 tour through the interior of Dock 79, the 305-unit apartment building now being completed on the banks of the Anacostia River, just across the street from Nationals Park on the site of an old concrete plant.

First, a photo from July 2016 showing Dock 79 as seen from the southeast.    (link)
The main entrance to Dock 79, on Potomac Ave., SE, between 1st and South Capitol.    (link)
The not-quite-street-not-quite-pedestrian thruway known as "Florida Rock Alley," that will eventually separate Dock 79 from its sibling to come. Also pictured are the bikes available to residents for renters.    (link)
The lobby.    (link)
A wider view of the lobby.    (link)
Still more of the lobby.    (link)
The fitness center, with windows along Potomac Avenue.    (link)
A little bit of inspiration outside the windows.    (link)
The common area for residents, with pool table not really visible at right rear.    (link)
More of the common area, with the bar area beneath the display that can show up to six TV channels at once (or one channel merged on all screens, or some variation between).    (link)
Rocking chairs inside the common area that look out onto....    (link)
The residential courtyard, with views of the Anacostia River and the Douglass Bridge. At left is the space where All-Purpose Pizzeria will be opening, and at right is another retail space.    (link)
Another view of the courtyard.    (link)
The upward view.    (link)
The courtyard not only looks out onto the river, but also the Anacostia Riverwalk. The patio past the fence will be home to outdoor seating for All-Purpose.    (link)
The kitchen and living room in the one-bedroom model unit.    (link)
The bedroom in the one-bedroom model unit.    (link)
Half of the closet and some of the bathroom in the model unit.    (link)
I can never get hallway photos to work, and yet I never stop trying.    (link)
The finishes also come in a darker wood, as seen here in one of the units.    (link)
A look at (much of) the building's southern side.    (link)
Tilting down to see more, and to also see the All-Purpose space. The pizzeria will also have seating on the roof deck seen here. And the blue-color wall along the Riverwalk beneath the overhang is where The Salt Line will open in 2017.    (link)
The Riverwalk, Diamond Teague Park and Piers, and the Anacostia River, as seen from one of the units.    (link)
Still some work being done on the western end of the Riverwalk and plaza.    (link)
A not-yet-finished-public plaza at the foot of 1st Street, separating Dock 79 from Diamond Teague Park. It's expected to open within a number of weeks.    (link)
The straight-ahead view from one of the units.    (link)
Looking to the southwest toward the Douglass Bridge.    (link)
One of the balconies, and the accompanying view.    (link)
Not all units face the river. This shows the view westward along Potomac Avenue.    (link)
And this is the view directly northward.    (link)
Units in the right spot in Dock 79 have a special window to highlight the neighbor across the street.    (link)
A corner unit on the building's southwest edge.    (link)
The space to Dock 79's west is currently a staging area, but volleyball courts will be coming, and eventually another residential building and probably two more buildings in the more distant future.    (link)
Not a bad view.    (link)
Also not a bad view.    (link)
The intersection of 1st and Potomac, along with the new plaza, the Riverwalk, and the neighborhood's changing skyline.    (link)
