On Oct. 24, 1977, a fire killed nine men who were in the movie theater on the second floor of what was then the Cinema Follies gay nightclub. Identification of those who died was hampered by the fact that, at that time, many homosexuals did not carry identification in case of police raids or other activity. It was the deadliest fire in DC to that time. I
