Touring the 1221 Van Apartment Building / Photo Gallery
February 5, 2018
A visit on a lovely winter late-afternoon at 1221 Van, a 290-unit apartment building immediately north of Nationals Park, at the corner of South Capitol and N Streets. For more information, check out the official web site, or my project page.
The roof deck. (The dome is bigger in person--I didn't zoom my lens enough.) (link)
The infinity pool is winterized, but you still get a sense of how residents will be able to watch the ballgame while being in the water. (The ballpark is definitely closer than it appears in these photos. Wide-angle shots wreck havoc with distances.) (link)
A shot taken from the roof back in April 2017 that shows the actual size of the ballpark. (link)
Another wide-angle view of the pool and its view to the southeast. (link)
The view to the south-southwest. Watching the traffic on South Capitol while being partially submerged might be oddly relaxing. (link)
The dining area of the two-bedroom model unit, on the seventh floor. It's not until the ninth floor that units can see the field at the ballpark. (link)
The living room in the two-bedroom corner-unit model, as seen from the dining room. While the pillar does seem odd, it actually does a nice job of splitting up the spaces. (link)
The guest bedroom in the two-bedroom model. (link)
The master bedroom in the two-bedroom model, which because it's a corner unit looks out to South Capitol Street and the west. (link)
