The DC Housing Authority and members of the development team celebrated the ceremonial start of a new 195-unit mixed income apartment building at 7th and L streets, SE. The project is another phase of the redevelopment of the Capper/Carrollsburg housing project. More about the groundbreaking here.

The shovels await the VIPs at the site of what will be the Lofts at Capitol Quarter, on what's now a parking lot just north of the Navy Yard and east of Van Ness Elementary (right) and the new Twelve12 apartment building with the ground floor Harris Teeter (center). This used to be where the towering Capper Seniors apartment building stood before it was demolished in 2007. (link)
