The southwest corner of 8th and M Streets, just south of the Southeast Freeway, in January 2003. Miles Glass closed sometime in the early 2000s. (01/03)

A different view of the same location, not quite three years later. For a few years it was turned into a car service lot, but Mac's Tires closed in spring 2007. (04/06)

The southeast corner of 8th and Virginia, when banners advertising the Admiral Condo project were hung. However, by 2008, the project's web site was gone, and the designs were being altered into the 801 Virginia office/retail development. (8/14/07)

The 1000 block of 8th Street, as seen from L Street, after an auto repair garage on the site was demolished. This is the southern end of the 801 Virginia lot. (02/06)

The "Blue Castle" building at 8th and M, originally a car barn and now a multi-use building that houses Key Academy charter school among other operations. In late 2007 it was purchased for $25 million by Madison Marquette, with plans to turn the 100,000 sq ft building into a retail development. (10/05)

A 2008 view of 900 M Street, a nondescript building that was once home to a Hudson auto dealership and more recently a dialysis unit. (08/06)

The same building, after renovations were completed to create three retail spaces; the Domino's "Coming Soon" sign in the second window from the left appeared in June 2009. (6/27/09)

The 1000 block of 7th Street, north of L Street, across from the new Marine Bachelor Enlisted Quarters, in June 2004. (04/06)

The same buildings, 18 months later. (12/05)

The northeast corner of 8th and Potomac (just north of M), with a Quizno's in the ground floor and office space above. This building was purchased in February 2006 for $9 million by the same investment group working on 801 Virginia, but in 2008 they put the property back up for sale. (1/26/08)

Next door to the gray building is this nice-but-abandoned building. This land was part of the same February 2006 $9 purchase, and it too was put up for sale in 2008. (10/05)

The National Capital Area Spay and Neuter Clinic opened in this renovated building on the southeast corner of 10th and L in 2007. (6/21/08)
