1111 New Jersey Avenue Office Development

Three projects are currently under development on Square 0743N: at the corner of 1st and M, Opus East is building a 240,000-sq-ft office building with 13,000 sq ft of ground-floor retail; behind that, at 1st and L, Faison Enterprises and Canyon-Johnson Urban Funds are developing Onyx on First, a 14-story, 266-unit apartment tower. Demolition started in September 2006, and delivery is expected in late 2008. Also in the planning stages is 1111 New Jersey Ave., a 220,000-sq-ft 12-floor office building by Donohoe. And in late 2007, news came out that St. Matthew's Church at 1105 New Jersey agreed to sell its property to Ruben Companies.

100 M St. Onyx on First 1111 New Jersey Ave. News Items

A slightly expanded view of same location, in March 2009, with the 1111 site unchanged but 100 M and Onyx on First now looming behind. The glass canopy of the Navy Yard Metro exit was installed in April 2006. (3/30/09)

While the 1111 New Jersey property now includes the land around the Metro entrance, the building will not be brought right to the M Street line. There will be a wide plaza surrounding the Metro entrance, and the existing entrance canopy will remain. The entrance will be protected and is expected to remain open during construction. (08/06)
