Feb. 26, 2017 - The all-but complete One Hill South apartment building, as seen from Half and K Streets, SE.
Nov. 3, 2019 - The second phase apartment building on the block, now blocking the view of the Phase 1 building from South Capitol Street.
A rendering showing that the new building will be built with connections above the drive, seen here in a similar angle.
Nov. 3, 2019 - A similar but zoomed-in angle as the rendering, showing that it has indeed taken shape.
June 4, 2017 - One Hill South's very New York resident entrance, on K Street.

The southwest corner of Half and I Streets, SE, which had little to offer for many years (except a Wendy's hidden behind the brush). Now....

Dec. 9, 2016 - The view from the roof, with a hint of one of the coming amenities. This is the most they would allow me to photograph, while construction is still on-going.
Aug. 20, 2016 - The building has now taken a prominent position in the view of the neighborhood from the Southeast Freeway. Nats Park is visible down South Capitol Street at far right.
April 2, 2015 - Sneaking a peek at the 909 Half Street site from a neighboring roof not long after the start of excavation.
Construction was well underway before any rendering of the project surfaced, so up until then matters were taken into JDLand's hands.
The southeastern corner of the block, at Half and K, has not been much to look at. (02/07)

An alternate view of the I Street portion of the property, looking west from Half Street. (06/07)
November 3, 2019 - The same spot. Click to see all available photos of this location.
The block also has clear ground-level views of the U.S. Capitol dome. (01/06)
November 2, 2019 - The same spot, with the Exxon long gone. Ruben envisions a Phase II building fronting South Capitol Street. Click to see all available photos of this location.
Jan. 12, 2012 - The block where 909 Half is being built runs across the bottom of this photo, taken from the top floor of 1015 Half Street in 2012. At least until the McDonalds and the feds' operations related to the coal plant are replaced with tall buildings, 909 should have a good view of the Capitol dome from its higher floors. The 909 Half footprint is on the right portion of the block.
Jan. 31, 2015 - For many weeks in 2014, observers interested in seeing progress on this block were taunted by what looked like the start of excavation for the apartment building but which was in fact the not-insignificant task of removing what turned out to be 16 underground storage tanks left by Exxon (and others?) over the years. (I never got photos of the tanks, but at least here's evidence of the digging.)
For years, Wendy's was the major current tenant on the eastern part of the block. (11/06)
In late July 2008, the fast food outlet finally closed, and was quickly stripped of its markings. The building was demolished in 2009. (8/3/08)
A towing company and its parking lot occupied the Half Street section of 909 Half's footprint for many years. (1/20/08)
On May 1, 2008, demolition began. (5/1/08)
