The southwest corner of 8th and M Streets, just south of the Southeast Freeway, in January 2003. Miles Glass closed sometime in the early 2000s. (01/03)

A different view of the same location, not quite three years later. For a few years it was turned into a car service lot, but Mac's Tires closed in spring 2007. (04/06)

The southeast corner of 8th and Virginia, when banners advertising the Admiral Condo project were hung. However, by 2008, the project's web site was gone, and rumors of a sale of the land were circulating. (8/14/07)

The 1000 block of 8th Street, as seen from L Street, after an auto repair garage on the site was demolished. This is the southern end of the 801 Virginia lot. (02/06)

The "Blue Castle" building at 8th and M, originally a car barn and now a multi-use building that houses Key Academy charter school among other operations. In late 2007 it was purchased for $25 million by Madison Marquette, with plans to turn the 100,000 sq ft building into a retail development. (10/05)

The vacant lot at 1006 7th Street, seen here in January 2006, may soon be
home to a a 12-unit condo building with ground-floor commercial
space. Construction could begin perhaps in late 2007. (01/06)

The northwest corner of 9th and Potomac (just north of M), with a nice-but-abandoned building. This land was purchased in Feb. 2006 for $9 million by the same investment group working on 801 Virginia. (10/05)

The National Capital Area Spay and Neuter Clinic opened in this renovated building on the southeast corner of 10th and L in 2007. (6/21/08)

On the northeast corner of 9th and M, a nondescript building that was once home to a Hudson auto dealership and more recently a dialysis unit may be converted into a retail space for three "national" tenants, with exterior renovations possibly to start in summer 2008. (10/05)
