Page Through from Before to After

Washingtonian is reporting that Thursday, Jan. 30, is the day that brings the opening of Anchovy Social, the second Danny Meyer venture at the new Thompson Hotel at 2nd and Tingey in the Yards.
While the "snacky, seafood-heavy menu" (which you can peruse on the web site) is separate from Maialino Mare downstairs, it does "carry over the restaurant's Italian flare and nautical theme." And, like all Danny Meyer offerings, service is included in the check.
There is indoor space with two bars (handy for a January opening), but Washingtonian says that "the main attraction will undoubtedly be its huge wraparound patio with views of the Anacostia River."
Initial hours will be from 5 to 11 pm Tuesday-Thursday and 4 pm to midnight on Friday and Saturday. It's also available for private events.
Perhaps there will be a JDLand happy hour there, once the weather becomes a bit more hospitable (and before it gets too dang hot).

Pretty excited about this! We're moving in next door (Estate) so this is the very definition of convenient.

So sometime between late April and mid May - gotcha.

Did someone say JDLand happy hour? Time to get my tux pressed!

RE: @AUshutterbug, I propose that that building be pronounced "Ess-TAH-tay," like the Italian word for "summer." Or at least that you tell people you live in the "Ess-TAH-tay" building, just to see their reaction. :-)

Just the way that my last car was named Ginger ESS-cah-PAY. (The current car, Ginger's younger brother, is named Commodore Tom Tingey.)

ESS-cah-Pay, we'll have a good time, ESS-cah-PAY, leave the worries behind ...

Went to Anchovy Social last night and it was quite good. As mentioned, the service (tip) is included and the staff was great.

I am so impressed with the outdoor space, as they were almost able to do the entire floor as an outdoor space for food and drink in addition the indoor area that includes two bar areas. Us locals and visitors alike will enjoy the excellent views.

Hopefully they will be able to introduce a happy hour menu/pricing once Spring rolls around.

Anyone want to do some undercover sleuthing for me? Our move in to Estate got pushed back from the first week of February to April. They said there was a pipe burst that knocked out the power and all the life safety systems in the building and that it will take over a month to repair. Their website and social still shows that they're doing tours so I'm really curious if something did happen, or if they're just behind schedule and didn't want people yelling at them.

@Aushutterbug I went to Maialiano Mare last Friday. When I told a server that I'd be moving to the neighborhood soon. She asked if I was in the Estate. After telling her no, she stated that there was a flooding in the Estate building and that the first residents that moved in, where now staying at the Thompson Hotel temporarily.

Hope they get it fixed soon. I can't speak for anyone else moving to the area, but I'm anxious to get settled!

AUshutterbug says: (2/14/20 9:09 AM)
@Sasq thanks! We are anxious too. The "flood" happened 3 days before the first move-ins so I know they had to put some people in the hotel. They offered to do the same for us because we were supposed to move in the following week, but luckily we own our current place so are able to stay here while we wait. I am also anxious to get moved though! I love the neighborhood and can't wait to be back.
