Let’s beat the deadline and support a worthy cause by making a generous bid for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get hitched up to pull the Official JDLand Little Red Wagon around the ‘hood on May 19th.

Tried out the Mason Dixie pop-up this morning. I was dismayed to learn that they'd raised prices from their store on Bladensburg by about 25%, but at least it was delicious. At $10 for a fried chicken biscuit, though, I don't think I'll be going by very regularly.

Anyone heard anything about Dacha? Doesn't seem like they've even started any kind of buildout work yet, and if anyone would want to be open during baseball season, you'd think it'd be a beer garden...
JNB says:

Those prices seem insane to me. Is that where the world is at in DC for a bacon, egg and cheese?
JD says:

The loss of the I Street McDonald's meant the loss of easy access not only to my treasured McD's fountain Diet Coke, but to the sausage/egg/cheese biscuit, which is one of life's delights.
Ampersand says:
(3/14/18 11:22 AM)
McDonald's breakfast biscuits are serious business. Relatedly, I was so annoyed when they rolled out all-day breakfast and yet somehow decided that DC was in the foul McMuffin region and not the rightful biscuit region.

@202: Tell your friend that on behalf of the people of my hometown (San Antonio), I issue this warning to both of you to NEVER use the following terms in the same sentence again:
— breakfast burrito
— Safeway
— good.
The following combination is acceptable:
— breakfast burrito
— Safeway
— bad.

Now I want a breakfast burrito from Anita's.
Also, just a confirmation that both 4th and 5/6th were closed last night when I was getting home.
conngs0 says:

Thanks, dude. That explains why there was so much traffic on 3rd Street this morning! Just FYI, there is a very rudimentary ramp that partially blocks the far right of the northbound lane. This just means that cars proceeding north can't really pass those waiting to make a left onto the freeway.

Also, looks like a(nother?) tower crane is coming soon, to Yards Parcel L. Or maybe it did this weekend.
malatesta says:
(3/18/18 2:20 PM)
Yea, it looks like the parcel L crane is up. However, one of the two cranes at parcel O has been taken down, so the neighborhood crane count remains at 12.
In re the store that shall not be named, I peeked through the windows earlier today and there hasn't been any build out work done, although maybe the permit is a sign that that's about to change.
RMP says:
(3/20/18 9:29 AM)
Apparently there's a new street parking plan in the works for the Yards, with metered parking coming to 3rd and 4th between Tingey and Water and short term / Uber waiting area on Water. Not sure who is supposed to be in charge of enforcement since it seems like no one is enforcing any of the no parking rules on those streets right now. There's also supposedly a Car2Go "micro" lot (whatever that is) next to the Winery and Maven cars in the Arris garage (their website only shows cars in the 300 M St garage).
CJBabyDaddy says:
(3/20/18 10:13 AM)
@RMP: Agreed on the lack of parking enforcement on 4th, south of Tingey. I say just meter the hell out of the block to put an end to the brazen abuse of the free 15-minute parking/waiting spots.
JD says:
(3/20/18 10:18 AM)
The on-street parking is mentioned in the new Yards zoning filing to extend the surface lot orders for another five years. That filing also says that there will be 80-90 public spaces in the Parcel L garage. (It didn't mention any at Parcel O, but that might just be because there wasn't a lot on Parcel O, and there was on L.)
JD says:
(3/20/18 10:20 AM)
(And, just to anticipate the likely question--they are not expecting the F/H/I parcel lots at 1st and N to actually remain for the full five years, but they want the flexibility.)
RMP says:
(3/20/18 10:58 AM)
Wasn't the original plan to have public parking in the Arris garage? Aside from a few ballgames and Friday night concerts I've never seen it open for public parking. I never understood why the streets around Yards Park weren't metered before now, honestly.

CJBabyDaddy says:

@RMP Arris had public parking for at least a year, maybe while occupancy was low and ramping up. But clearly those days appear gone.
