What with all those New Year's resolutions floating around, it makes sense that word has gotten out today that Barre3 has signed a lease to occupy the space immediately north of Solidcore in the ground floor of the F1rst apartment building on 1st Street, SE, south of M.
This will be the fifth DC location for the chain, which "mixes athleticism, grace, and the latest innovations designed to balance the body," according to its web site.
The studio is expected to open early fall-ish 2018, and joins Taylor Gourmet, Chop't, Chipotle, Roti, Rasa Indian Grill, the aforementioned Solidcore, and the still-to-come Declaration.
{And no, it's not your eyes, the photo is blurry. Sigh.}

Another place making me feel guilty as I walk to Taylor Gourmet. Sigh....Is this the second to last open bay JD? Last time I walked by, I think I saw just two (or would could be two).

Huh. With Harry's, Harris Teeter and (hopefully) Whole Foods all in a 3ish block radius from Insignia, it will be interesting to see how they try to differentiate themselves. I guess if they're not selling liquor, maybe they'll go all in on craft beer/fancy wine?

I noticed another construction trailer this morning on the empty lot immediately north of Eagle Academy on NJ Ave, SE.

Speaking of businesses surviving, what is the deal with Cornercopia? I enjoyed their sandwiches when it was the only option in the neighborhood a decade ago but it seems like it is never open.

Cornercopia is open every weekday for breakfast and lunch. They close fairly early and are closed on the weekends. I eat their sandwiches and bulgogi on a regular basis.

There is another construction trailer at the lot on K Street, SW, across the street from Justin's and Parc Riverside. There are now three construction trailers either on that lot or the small lot adjacent to it. Perhaps there is another tower crane in our future!

As far as I know there's been no progress on getting the land needed from DC Water. I would even wonder if the Icon folks are still hanging on after all this time.
