Page Through from Before to After
Hope everyone enjoyed that 45-second snowstorm this morning! Here's a roundup, mostly from the running linkage I've been posting in the comments. And the photo at right has nothing to do with any of the tidbits--it's just from 11 years ago today. A little different. * STYMIED: The developers of the proposed large residential project at 1333 M are asking for a two-year extension on their zoning PUD, citing beiing "stymied" in finding financing. (Capitol Hill Corner) Given this weekend's forecast, I may try to get out to take some photos, if the stars align.

Also, after that update, I am craving Waffle House hash browns (scattered, covered, smothered).
202_cyclist says: (2/16/17 10:46 AM)
Thank you for the updates. This is a little cryptic. "Ryan Zimmerman is an investor/part-owner of The Salt Line, opening across the street from his place of employment this year. " Are you hinting that this might be Ryan Zimmerman's last year as a National?
JD says: (2/16/17 10:47 AM)
No, I'm hinting that the Salt Line is opening this year. But I've now tweaked the sentence structure.

A reader reports that the asphalt is being torn up at the NAB site at South Capitol and M. So perhaps that project is getting underway, a mere eight months since the groundbreaking.

Random thoughts from my walk around just now. I saw commercial leasing signs on the windows at the Bistro (in the Courtyard). Out of business? The scale of the scaffolding around the Parc Riverside seems to suggest a pretty big construction flaw is being remedied. Lastly, the dingy alley between the auto shop and 1000 First is being cleaned up and, it seems prepped for either gravel or asphalt (for construction vehicles I presume).
100CapCaucus says: (2/16/17 10:03 PM)
Has anyone noticed the noxious smell that lingers on the northern corners of NJ Ave & I St SE? It smells like an open sewer 24/7. I can't imagine Slipstream is going to be ok with it and their customers if they're going to have outside seating. I think it's either coming from the sewer grates on the Ore82 side or the Parc Chelsea side but it is terrible. Who do we complain to?
malatesta says: (2/16/17 11:10 PM)
100cap - That smell has been present at that intersection at least since Park Chelsea was built. Its usually worse on cold days, I assume becayse the warmer stinky air from the sewer rises up. Maybe complain to Chaffetz if we're still doing that.
Chaifetz10 says: (2/17/17 7:13 AM)
We've also noticed it every single time we walk past that intersection. I'll start contacting DC Water to complain every time I smell it; the more we report it the more likely it gets addressed.
jdc says: (2/17/17 8:48 AM)
I am So excited for Cava. First Street is really going to be the boulevard of lunch options.
NavyYahd says: (2/17/17 8:56 AM)
Some residents of Park Chelsea have noticed that smell somehow making it's way up to their apartments. I've noticed it a few times in the lobby. Pretty nasty.
JD says: (2/17/17 9:01 AM)
A reader asked DC Water about it today:

@DCWater: @Laife_Alan_Fulk We are aware, and in the process of working with the building developer(s) to address the issue.
JD says: (2/17/17 9:03 AM)
(And as for Declaration, I got strung along by PR folks telling me "there's going to be an announcement of a new lease," and they just send me the link to the WBJ story. Bah.)
dude says: (2/17/17 9:17 AM)
There's some so so promotions this year. Gosh I still miss T-shirt Tuesdays. The new 6th street exit ramp is pretty nice, but I'll be glad when the get both lanes operational again. I'll also be glad when people learn how to be in the correct lane under the overpass so I don't have to honk at people 2/3 of the time. Hah.
knavyard says: (2/17/17 10:00 AM)
CAVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is literally the best news since Nov. 10, 2016.
202_cyclist says: (2/17/17 1:46 PM)
@JD: Perhaps but I think Mr. JD Land's So CHill is still the winner
