 Sliding from Before to After

The headline about says it all, but for the sake of fleshing out a full post I'll write that it's been announced this morning that Mediterranean-style fresh-and-wholesome purveyor Roti will be coming to the apartment project in the block north of Nats Park known as F1rst in 2017.
It joins previously announced food offerings Taylor Gourmet, Chop't, Chipotle, and Rasa Indian Grill, and this morning's press release says that the retailers are all expected to open in Spring 2017 at the same time the F1rst residences will be completed.
F1rst will have 325 rental units, and a Residence Inn is being completed next door at the same time.
The official F1rst web site has floor plans and additional information (plus the hours of their now-open leasing center trailer at 1st and N), and my project page gives more details and history of the site. I forgot about that hotel. That is quite the cluster of hotels, and I can definitely see them having to be price competitive during certain seasons because their competitors are basically within eyeshot.

And, in what could be a sign that one of the most long-awaited projects may be getting close to moving forward, a shoring/excavation permit has now been approved for 1250 Half Street, aka Monument Valley, aka the Jair Lynch residential/retail project on top of the Half Street Hole.

Thank you for the update.

On the JD Land page on the Book of Faces, it is often asked by some why DC needs all of these new residential units. Aside from having some of the highest housing costs in the country, DC's population continues to boom.

Also, the NAB HQ project at South Capitol & M does now have a foundation permit, but not yet an excavation permit. (The sister residential building 10 Van doesn't have its excavation or foundation permits yet, either.)

Sheesh, fast casual row right there... not that there's anything wrong with fast casual, but it's nice when they're mixed with other types of retail too.

JES I agree with you. Wasn't there news of a possible big box retailer coming to the area? CVS really doesn't stock all the real essentials that a hardware store or retailer like target could.

I just perused the F1rst floor plans, and some are pretty weird, with columns smack dab in the middle of a bedroom. I'm hoping it's something that just doesn't translate well in a floor plan and would work okay in real life.

Will be nice to see the DC Water HQ get built and fill in some of that dead zone between Yards Park and Nats Park. Now we just need DC Water to get the heck out of there other neighborhood space to make room for the movie theater!

@knavyard I assume the column in the middle of the unit is common to many of the new buildings in the neighborhood. I toured a unit in Arris that had a giant column right in the middle of the living room. It was terrible and absolutely a dealbreaker. That said, that floor plan was also (I think) the cheapest floor plan per sq ft in the building.
