Bethesda Bagels, purveyors of round food and assorted other delicacies, announced on Twitter and Facebook on Friday that it will be coming to the neighborhood "in early 2017," and confirmed under tough questioning that their location will be in Insignia on M, the new 324-unit apartment building on its way to completion on the northwest corner of New Jersey and M, just above the east entrance to the Navy Yard-Ballpark Metro station.
This will be Bethesda Bagels' third location, alongside its shops in Bethesda (duh) and at Dupont Circle.
The Insignia building has approximately 11,000 square feet of ground-floor retail spaces that both face M Street as well as at the corner of New Jersey and L, and this is the first news of a tenant. (I *think* BB will be in one of the spaces along M, but I don't yet have confirmation of that.)

This is awesome news! @SWag, I am baffled it has taken Chipotle (or the like) this long to move in. It certainly wouldn't affect their 8th St location and they would kill it regardless.

Is Chipotle still killing it? It was my impression the chain was suffering from its health scare earlier this year. The store near me is mostly empty these days.

So nice to see the sidewalks open around ORE 82 - next up seems to be the Homewood suites, which is darn well nearing completion both inside and out.

@jdc--- I agree with the sidewalks. It is a decent space there, with the benches and bike racks. I can't wait for Slipstream to open.

With the near completion of ORE 82, it is apparent how much room there is between this building, 70 and 100 I Street and the highway. It will be a decent space there when CSX completes its construction.

@DCisforLover - yea, I've always thought Chipotle could use are few more locations. Especially in SW/Navy Yard.

@jdc - Chipotle has cooled off, but is definitely still a fan favorite. And with the hungry game day crowds - I imagine this one in particular will do really well.
