 Sliding from Before to After

With the enticement of coupons for a free order of wings each week for 52 weeks for the first 100 people in line helping to bring a crowd at 10 am on a Monday, the city's first Buffalo Wild Wings opened this morning at 1220 Half St. SE, immediately to the south of the Navy Yard-Ballpark Metro entrance and not too far from the main gates at Nationals Park.
Ward 6 council member Charles Allen was on hand to cut the ribbon for the restaurant, which is employing about 130 DC residents, including many whom live very close by in Southwest or Southeast.
It opens daily at 11 am, and stays open until 1 am Fridays and Saturdays and midnight the rest of the week.

I'm still wanting to do a JDLand Happy Hour, but with the Post move and Thanksgiving and whatnot, it might have to be in mid-December. On a THURSDAY, of course.

In other news, we went to the Indian buffet on lower Barrack's Row and it was pretty good and reasonably priced. When Las Placitas and the Brig open, and the Loft apartments, that area will be noticeably different than it is currently.

I wonder if the opening of BW's will be the death knell for Bonchon. That place is dead 85% of the time I walk by. Even during prime Sunday football watching when Justin's and Big Stick were busy yesterday, there were 3 customers in Bonchon.

I know nothing about the state of Bonchon (other than that they seem to do a big carryout business), but I imagine they are looking at the 380-unit building arising right outside their window and thinking that may expand their client base a bit.

(Not to mention another potential 330 units right next door at the Lerner project, eventually)

And I don't think NLRB has moved to 1015 Half yet--a lot of floors don't look built out when looking at the windows.

Alan - it's really never that dead, not sure when you are stopping by. Last time I went there were at least 30 people in there. I've been when it was much more crowded. During baseball season there has been a wait. As far as the food, Bonchon has some of the best chkn in DC. BWW chkn is .... terrible?!? They are different draws. One is for solid food and beer and the other is food and beer. May not seem like a big difference, but the crowds are like night and day.

@SWag I love bonchon's chicken and said nothing to infer that it was bad, just that the place is empty quite often (especially compared to some of their other locations). And I'm not a fan of BW's(and most people I know aren't either) but they still go for the TVs and cheap beer. I just fear that in a neighborhood awash in (mostly great) wing offerings (Bluejacket, Due South, Willie's, Justin's, Scarlet Oak and now BWs), Bonchon may end up the odd one out. While they are definitely busy on game days--who isn't?--81 days of that, plus their robust take-out might not cover all the SqFt they're leasing. I'd love to have them stay but they competition is going to be really fierce.
