Great-- I can't wait for the summer concerts! It is supposed to be 26 degrees on Saturday morning, I can't believe these concerts are only about seven weeks away.

Yep! I haven't made it to one of the movie-watching events at Canal Park yet, but they really do a great job with the concerts at Yards Park. I almost hope that they don't get too much more popular though - the crowds at the Sculpture Garden make that event virtually impossible to enjoy.

DCPSParent says: (3/26/15 9:04 PM)
@conngs As the concerts get more popular, you might consider contacting the BID about bringing back the Marine Band concerts. A few years back they hosted a month or so of those on a weeknight during the summer and they were more neighborhood events and less crowded. Obviously, they have funding constraints to work with, but I think a few lower-key concerts would be great if they or another host group could swing it.

DCPSParent says: (3/26/15 9:05 PM)
Does anyone remember the Marine concerts? I think they were on Thursdays.

I don't remember the weeknight Marine Corps Band concerts, but have you ever been to the Friday night events they hold at the Barracks? They're phenomenal. You have to get tickets (free) through their website, but it's totally worth the effort to make the reservations and show up on time. I think anything with the Marine Corps Marching band in this neighborhood now would be well-attended.

I do remember the Marine concerts, but I always found them by happenstance when I happened to be walking the dog through there during a show. Seemed like not much publicity for them. Which, depending on your views on crowds, I suppose could be a good thing.
