* The restaurant group that owns a slew of Capitol Hill and Near Southeast restaurants, including the Park Tavern and Willie's Brew & Que, has now exited bankruptcy. (Hill Rag)
* Some additional information about the Display Ship Barry's impending departure, including that the hull is apparently structurally sound and so it's expected the ship will be towed away, as opposed to be being dismantled in place. Also, the Navy "has not yet made a decision about replacing Barry with another decommissioned ship, and there is no timeline for doing so." (USNI News)
* Bisnow takes a look at the city's "fastest-growing neighborhood," though, ahem, the ballpark was not built in 2005, guys. (Bisnow)
UPDATE: Extra-special last-minute tidbit:
* A crane will be arriving at the Community Center site next week to place the steel for the gymnasium, which is good in terms of progress but which is bad in terms of the fact that it's going to take up a bunch of parking spaces on L and then around and up 5th Street. It is expected that these parking spaces will not be available at all next week. After the gym steel work is done, though, the crane will move onto the construction site itself.

Wow. That's about the most anti-climactic ending to that bankruptcy saga I could have imagined. I'm glad it's over (for now) though, and I'm looking forward to the restaurants being able to focus on getting better. I actually like quite a few of them, in particular Senart's and Willie's. It would be great of Park Tavern could turn things around though! Such potential at that location.

And I'm excited that the Navy is even thinking about replacing the Barry with a decommissioned ship for folks to tour (it's not too late to save the Top Gun aircraft carrier from the scrap heap!). Seriously though, the Navy Yard is such a great spot for a display ship, and I think it would be worth it to rearrange things over there to incorporate the Navy Museum into the dock area and another ship or two to tour. It'd be such a great transition from Yards Park to the Eleventh Street Bridge park.

Knowing how critical the parking situation is at Capitol Quarter, taking these parking spaces may cause additional inconvenience. We are pushing the contractor to complete the work as soon as possible but we are certain that at most the spaces will not be available for all of next week.

With the height restrictions of the new bridge, I imagine that a decomissioned submarine is about the only thing the Navy could set up as a museum ship. It would be neat to have one on display here.

The WBJ had an article ( link recently about a private bus service, Bridj, which is sort of a hybrid between a taxi and transit. Bridj, which currently operates in Boston, is planning on expanding to serve DC. Which routes would Navy Yard/Capitol Riverfront residents like to see?

I think a Navy Yard - H Street route could be valuable, as to reach H Street via transit, passengers currently have to walk to 8th and I Street SE.
