Within the past few days, readers have sent tweets with photos of brewing equipment being delivered to soon-to-be-Gordon Biersch at 100 M and inside the space at the Boilermaker Shops that will become Bluejacket.
No official timeframe on when either of these restaurants will open, though a Biersch employee told the Post that he "expects the new Biersch branch to be operating in time for the Craft Brewers Conference in March and the Nats' home opener in April."
As for the other beer joint on tap for the neighborhood (see what I did there?), there doesn't appear to be any action so far in the Willie's Brew and 'Que space at the Boilermaker Shops, but with owner Xavier Cervera's long-in-the-works redo of the Hawk 'n' Dove reportedly about to debut, perhaps he'll then be able to shift resources both to Willie's and to the Park Tavern at Canal Park.
UPDATE, 1/17: This Esquire interview with Bluejacket bigshot Greg Engert says that the bar will open "in May."

Is Cervera still deciding whether or not to sell his restaurant group? Or is that saga over at this point? Wondered if that was behind part of the delay in getting the local joints open.

Great question, JES. It looks like the Park Tavern could be open tomorrow if there was a desire to do so. I was operating on the (completely unsubstantiated) assumption that Cervera put everything on hold because of the possible sale. With a fairly healthy turnout on the ice skating rink this winter, it sure seems like the Park Tavern has missed out on a lot of potential customers.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that potential sale in the post itself, at least in terms of whether Willie's will see any action (I would think Park Tavern could open soon, as you said). But there's been no news on it one way or the other.

I was told by an employee at the Skate Park that Cervera did infact sell his restaurant group. I havent found any confirmation of this online though and its complete word of mouth. However it seems to make sense due to the delay in openings.

The word I have re: Park Tavern is that Xavier is still waiting on some permit issues to be resolved, and that they weren't able to open earlier because the certificate of occupancy for the entire building had to be received before pulling restaurant permits. Although this has been the answer since November, I was told yesterday they hope to open in about three weeks. Just the messenger... :)

Just as a follow up to David... The BID passed to me the certificates of occupancy dated Nov. 15 for all three blocks of the park, including the Park Tavern building. (Skaters wouldn't be able to use the restrooms in the building if it didn't have the C of O.) There may be other permitting issues for the restaurant, but they aren't related to the occupancy.

Also, apparently the sale to the restaurant group has gone through, though Cervera is still involved and part of the new ownership.

Right. Didn't mean to infer that the C of O wasn't received in November, just that they didn't start on some of the other required permits until after that time. As yet another update, Cervera told The Hill is Home that "He estimates that the opening date should be about one month away.." link Now that Hawk N' Dove opens tonight, I'm hopeful for a priority shift down to our neighborhood!
