 Sliding from Before to After

ANC 6D has sent around (and posted! yay!) the agenda for its January meeting, scheduled for Monday, Jan. 9 at 7 pm at 1100 4th St., SW in DCRA's second-floor meeting room.
The Near Southeast items of interest could mostly be looked at as sneak previews, or perhaps as items that could be missed if you are better able to fit other upcoming meetings into your calendar (especially, if, say, you were looking for an escape hatch because you'd kinda rather be watching the BCS championship):
* There's a M Street SE/SW Transportation Study agenda item, in advance of the DDOT public meeting on the study coming three days later, on Jan. 12;
* There's an update on Capitol Riverfront BID doings, in advance of the BID's annual meeting three days later, on Jan. 12; and
* There's the application for historic landmark status for the DC Water main pumping station, which will be heard by the Historic Preservation Review Board at its January 26 meeting.
There's also an update on the ANC 6D redistricting outcome, various Southwest-related items (including the big Maryland Avenue SW Draft Plan, and whatnot. And, since it's the first meeting of the new year, there will also be the election of commission officers.

Speaking of the BID any of the folks in Capital Quarter get a BID ballot in the mail? Anybody in Velocity not get a BID ballot? Just curious.

I live in Velocity and got a ballot... However, I'm a little annoyed that you aren't allowed to vote unless you show up in person at the meeting. I hope this means none of the corporations/LLC's/LLP's that own property in the BID will be allowed to vote unless a controlling interest of the stock holders or partners are present.

I think you can fax it in but given they get 400+ votes per building our vote is basically useless. Loving that 20% BID tax increase for us.

@AVC, Single Family homes don't pay BID tax, and as such, aren't entitled to a vote. At least that's my understanding. If you do pay BID tax (it's a bill sent separately from the property tax bill), I would call the BID.

Just making sure they didn't get one. Only those in Velocity pay a BID tax. The apartments are assumed to be passed onto the renters by the developers, CHT is most likley in the co-op fees and CQ/EYA along with the old remaining rowhomes are exempt from the BID tax. Pretty cool uh?

EYA/CQ and the old rowhomes are exempt for some reason. The DC Council set up the authorization for the BIDs and put that exclusion in there. The companies that own the apartments basically pass the tax to the renters and assuming CHT is wrapped up in the fees (so I guess we all pay except for a few). And the hotel room BID tax is surely passed onto guests. Would love to see the council remove the exemptions.
