From WTOP: "Nationals fans will have a new way to get to the ballpark starting next month! That's when a water taxi will begin taking fans from the Alexandria waterfront to a dock right next to the the ballpark. It's about a 40 minute trip.
"The Potomac Riverboat Company will begin offering tickets for sale starting at noon today. 'I think it's a great price, $12 one way and $20 round trip. That includes tax,' company Vice President Charlotte Hall tells WTOP.
"Fans who live in Maryland can park at National Harbor, and take a separate water taxi across the river to catch the "baseball boat" in Alexandria. Those who want to do that will have to purchase a separate ticket for $8 one way or $16 round trip.
"Company vice president Charlotte Hall says they're offering water taxi rides to and from seven Nationals home games in September, beginning with a game against Philadelphia on Tuesday, September 8. You can also buy water taxi tickets to home games on September 9, 10, 25, 28, 29, and 30. Hall says they hope to expand service in time for next baseball season."
The dock is at Diamond Teague Park--if you missed my photos yesterday of the park and piers, here they are.
UPDATE: Potomac Riverboat's online ticketing ordering now has ballpark trips as an option.

"A little pricey"...It's a bloody rip off. Leave it up to corporations to try and turn a buck and have their greed screw up what could have been a good thing.

I would recommend swimming or, for $1.50, taking the metro.

It wouldn't be that pricy from the National Harbor, without metro access, maybe. It's definitely pricy from somewhere like Alexandria, when you have easy metro access to and from the ballpark via L'Enfant Plaza.

I find it hard to believe they're going to find enough people willing to pay those exorbitant fees to pay for the boat fuel. They're literally going to have maybe a dozen people for some weekday games.

So I can not come from southern Maryland in my 18 foot boat and dock to see the Nats? Why is the pier only for the big $ boats? Typical DC blunder.

There's the dock down at Buzzards Point, and will eventually be one at the Yards Park only a couple blocks east of Diamond Teague.

FYI, Parking at National Harbor is $3/hr. So tack that on to the total price if you're planning to take that route. At these prices, I don't see this lasting for long without subsidies. Its just too easy to get there so many other ways.

Well it's true. Even on weekday game days where the stadium is filled, like the Red Sox series, there hasn't been a parking/metro issue like some claimed there would be prior to the park opening.

Let me see, you can either take the metro from King Street to the Navy Yard, which takes 29 minutes (including transfer) according to the Metro schedule, or take a 40 minute boat ride. The Metro is $5.60 roundtrip, the boat ride is $20.

Not much of a choice, unless you REALLY like boats.
