The
Southwest Neighborhood Assembly, the nonprofit resident association established in 1964 to "improve the quality of life for all Southwest residents," recently created a "Near Southeast Task Force", clearly wanting to get in on all the fun and festivities across the way on the cool side of South Capitol Street. (Hey, we kid because we love.) They're looking for Near Southeast residents to join the task force, with hopes that this new group leads "to the extension of the activities and benefits of our resident association" into Southeast. The assembly's next monthly meeting is on Monday, Nov. 26, at the St. Vincent de Paul's Catholic Church at South Capitol and M, at 7:30 pm, with invited speakers including new MPD First District commander David Kemperin, council member Tommy Wells, and representatives of Forest City Washington (developers of
The Yards,
Capper/Carrollsburg, and the old Waterside Mall in Southwest).
