 Page Through from Before to After

It did not take long for the news to explode on social media that the Aslin Beer Company will be launching a game-day beer garden at the corner of 1st and N, SE, a block away from the Center Field Gate, starting on April 5, the day of the Nats home opener.
It will generally run from about two hours before each game until two hours after, and the company's Instagram post says that "starting as soon as May, we will also be open on non-game days throughout the summer."
However, the Instagram feed for the beer garden itself (which might be hinting at being called the Sandlot) says that the pop-up will run until July 8. My understanding is that the owners of the lot are expecting to start construction after the All-Star Game on the two-story bar/restaurant that has been planned for that site since the F1rst development was announced. (I shall take to calling this lot the Outpost, since it is separated from its F1rst sibling by the Hampton Inn.) Whether that actually comes to pass, We Shall See.
In other tidbits that I really need to get out of the hopper:
* DECLARATION: There apparently are now signs at Declaration that it will open on April 5. Still waiting for an official date from Oath Pizza.
* 71 POTOMAC: Looks like Dock 79's 264-unit sibling currently dubbed 71 Potomac is going to get underway Any Minute Now (if digging hasn't already started). It will also have 12,500 square feet of retail, and will be built immediately to Dock 79's west. (WBJ)
* SUMMER MOVIE LINEUP: Here's the schedule for Canal Park's Thursday Night Summer Movie series, running from June 7 through Aug. 23.
* CIRCULATOR SUMMER HOURS: April 1 is almost here, which means it'll be time for the DC Circulator Union Station-Navy Yard route to switch to its summer hours, running from 6 am to 9 pm Monday-Friday and 7 am to 9 pm on Saturdays, plus extended hours when the Nats are at home, running until midnight for every game beginning at 4:05 pm or later as well as from 10 am to 10 pm for Sunday home games.
* (UPDATE I) CHLOE LUNCH: Just across the transom is the news that Chloe at 4th and Tingey is now serving lunch on weekdays from 11 am to 2 pm. "Designed to be carryout friendly," it will include a rotating selection of options like enchiladas and banh mi.
* (UPDATE II): DUE SOUTH DOCKSIDE: Confirmation that Due South Dockside will open at 11 am on Opening Day.

By my count, if you're into outdoor drinking this summer the choices are almost overwhelming: Aslin/Sandlot, Brig, Bullpen, Dacha (maybe?), and the not-to-be-named place under the bridge. Plus all the patios (Bluejacket, Saltline, etc.) and the new outposts on the Yards Park boardwalk. What else did I miss?

It looks like JD already retweeted, but All-Purpose opens today at 5pm! GARLIC KNOTS

JD says: (3/29/18 11:27 AM)
It's a soft opening today and Saturday. Real opening is Tuesday.

You're killing me smalls.

@RMP-- one of our friends used to drink whiskey under the I-395 bridge, so there is always that option for outdoor drinking as well.

ttassa says: (3/29/18 1:54 PM)
Hate to criticize, but the Aslin folks sure did select a logo (via the instagram post) that looks too much like the Braves script "A"!

Looks like Declaration is open right now, actually. May be a soft open or something.

And here's an unexpected item to share. This is an official rendering of Paradigm's project at 1000 1st St., SE.

(The purple lights are designed to change colors, btw.)

Those purple lights remind me of the light show on Homewood suites.

Asking for some friends— when is the Whole Foods opening?

NavyYardNittany says: (3/31/18 8:52 PM)
Workers back on site yesterday on the large parking lot bordered by First/Half/K/I. Building wooden traffic signs/construction warnings, and have placed no parking signs along K that run through July. Would assume this means their permit issues have been resolved and we should expect work to resume there this week. That area is going to be an absolute mess.

Our friend, and Navy Yard resident, will have her food truck, Deco Deli parked at Canal Park on Thursday, April 5, for opening day. Deco Deli offers a menu of delicious sandwiches. I encourage you to try lunch (and breakfast!) from their truck this week.

dude says: (4/2/18 10:44 AM)
@202 yes! I’m coming home from Cincy today and it was so strange not hearing the horn and Chuck Brown after all of the wonderful home runs the Nats hit this weekend.

What is with all the yellow brick on new buildings? Bulk discount?

Did I miss any?

EnvySquared says: (4/2/18 7:14 PM)
via Eater DC: "Grilled pizza chain Oath Pizza is working on opening its second location in the area, posting new signage at its forthcoming outpost near Nationals Park (110 M Street SE) alerting locals that “you’re invited to our grand opening celebration.” The Massachusetts-based company, which opened its first shop outside Boston last fall in Mosaic District, has not announced an opening date for the Navy Yard store."

JD says: (4/2/18 8:53 PM)
They probably wrote that after seeing my photo of the signage. It's been there for a few months.

RMP says: (4/2/18 10:40 PM)
Now I'm super curious about the story behind 18-8. They built it out 90%, left it like that for months, then abandoned it? Why?

JD says: (4/2/18 10:54 PM)
I heard it was something having to do with a licensing issue.

202_cyclist says: (4/4/18 12:04 PM)
@NavyYardRes:

The building on 2nd Street, across from Canal Park, also looks like it will have yellow brick. I can only assume the developers were fond of the Wizard of Oz. That seems like the only reasonable explanation.

CJBabyDaddy says: (4/17/18 5:21 AM)
@NavyYardRes: Or Elton John.

Ampersand says: (4/17/18 4:14 PM)
@CJBabyDaddy
Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road... we're gonna take it apart and use it for a building
Not as catchy, I guess.
