Page Through from Before to After
So, we've got the Lofts at Capitol Quarter becoming the Bixby ( perhaps), and 1111 New Jersey ditching "Gallery at Capitol Riverfront" for " Insignia on M." Time to fill out the lineup by finally getting around to mentioning that the 336-unit residential building currently under construction at 800 New Jersey is going to be named: Agora. This is the project better known as "The Whole Foods Building," on the north end of New Jersey Avenue just south of the Southeast Freeway and immediately to the north of the Park Chelsea. It's the second of three planned apartment buildings by WC Smith on the block bounded by New Jersey, 2nd, H (to come), and I (to come).I cannot in any way lay claim to being the fast out of the gate in mentioning this Agora news, since it was in a BID newsletter back in July. I meant to mention it sooner, but I also thought that at some point WC Smith would unveil it. Also, it was July. It was hot. I was tired. I have, however, updated my maps and project pages with all these new names. (I should also note that this Agora shouldn't be confused with this Agora.)

I am getting old and forgetful but I recall that we discussed this in the comment section back in July.
JD says: (11/19/15 10:39 PM)
Yes, but maybe 20 percent of my readers read the comments with any regularity. And we discussed it because of the BID newsletter. I've never used it in a post.

The rendering and street design looks great - any plans of a bike lane on new jersey avenue? It would be nice to have something that connects to the random E to D street bike lane, especially with the increased traffic wholefoods will bring.
202_cyclist says: (11/20/15 10:42 AM)
@dnd5: A bike lane on NJ Ave would be an excellent idea. Earlier this year, I emailed ANC Commissioner, Meredith Fascett about getting a bike lane for New Jersey Ave and I would suggest that you and the other readers of this blog do the same to help build support for this.
JES says: (11/20/15 8:04 PM)
Are there plans to extend the existing I Street bike lane through the new I Street? Also, "somewhat patiently" for Whole Foods? More like "horribly impatiently." I can't wait for their cheese counter and beer cooler...

On the Bozzuto Insignia on M page, there is a link to a nearby future apartment building on Half St called "Joule". No address given and there aren't very many details or renderings, could this be 909 Half?
JD says: (11/20/15 11:11 PM)
Good eye! But I don't think it's 909 Half, given where they've put the marker on the map and all the references to "Nationals Stadium" being right close by.
If I had to guess, I'd say that it's the planned JBG residential project on the very south end of the Fairgrounds site, directly across from Nats Park. But as I said elsewhere, I had not too long ago heard that the Fairgrounds was coming back next year, and there's been no indication so far of any permit applications submitted, at least that I've seen. (I've also been watching in case they're needing to re-up the zoning approvals from what Akridge had approved for that site, and haven't seen anything.)
This is the building that Akridge designed for the south end of that block, before being bought out by JBG: link
I will ask around.
But they earn many many demerits for the repeated use of "Nationals Stadium" instead of "Nationals Park."
JD says: (11/23/15 10:06 AM)
Or I could take back everything I said above - It's not the JBG Half Street project, it's the Half Street Hole, Jair Lynch's project on the east side of Half. link
Makes a little more sense, since they already have zoning approvals. No building permits yet, though.

This is sad and unfortunate. Police charge panhandler with murder in stabbing over $10, slice of pizza link
JHUGrad says: (11/24/15 1:15 PM)
Why post this under this topic? The sad part of this is that someone was actually willing to kill someone over $10.
202_cyclist says: (11/24/15 1:29 PM)
@JHUGrad: What other entry should I post this under? This happened this past weekend and the Whole Foods posting is the most recent update.
