Sliding from Before to After

Because I wouldn't want anyone to go without Korean fried chicken for a second longer than necessary, I will pass along for those who haven't been keeping up that DC's first Bonchon restaurant and bar is indeed opening today, March 30, at 11:30 am, on the southwest corner of Half and K streets, SE, two blocks north of the Navy Yard-Ballpark station's west entrance and three blocks north of Nats Park. It will be open every day at 11:30 am, staying open until 9:30 pm Sunday-Wednesday and 11 pm Thursday-Saturday, except on Nats game days, when 11 pm will be closing time Sundays through Wednesdays. with midnight the post-Nats closing time Thursdays through Saturdays. The menu is here, and note the $9 lunch special from 11:30 am to 2 pm Monday through Friday, with a choice of wings, drums, strips, or a combo, plus one side. I have too much content in the hopper right now to do a separate post on this, but Boswell says he's "virtually certain" that DC will be getting the 2018 MLB All-Star game, and that it may be announced on April 6 when the new commish is in town to throw out the first pitch

Pretty exciting to have the All-Star Game here! Hopefully a lot of these projects will be complete in time for the neighborhood to put its best foot forward (and spectators don't get run over by construction vehicles or fall in train trenches!).

Apparently they are going to have happy hour specials on non-game days. I know this is a hot opening and they think business will come in naturally on game days, but I bet they reverse that and offer a pre-game special. Almost every bar in the neighborhood has pre-game happy hour -- other than Bluejacket.

There was a drilling crew on site today but I don't know, perhaps they got to the site early to tailgate for opening day.... Perhaps instead of making snide responses, you can also inquire about this site. I emailed the DC Housing Authority yesterday to obtain information.

171 units, 34 of which are slated to be public housing. They have some financing, which I wrote about last year, but no announcement of full financing or approved building permits or the start of construction. I imagine they are doing soil borings.
I was being snide because your breathless BREAKING NEWS (and breathless separate photos sent to me on FB) seemed to be getting all excited that some new development was breaking ground, and I was trying to hint to you that nothing right there is particularly close to getting started.

Waiting for the weekend so I can go with Mr. JDLand, but given that we used to drive to Annandale to get Bonchon when it first arrived, the notion of it within walking distance has made us very happy.
