 Sliding from Before to After

It's Slider time! It takes a fair amount of work to update the cool little displays of then-and-now photos that allow you to slide a bar back and forth to compare the images, but I have now finished the Herculean task of not only updating *26* existing sliders, but adding 10 new locations to the Slider lineup. (Plus there's all the ones that just didn't need an update this time around.)
Below are the 10 new angles, and clicking on them takes you to the Photo Archive page for that angle, which will not only allow you to see the Slider but also all of the photos I've taken of that particular angle over the years.
But if you want to play with all 36 new and updated locations at once, go to the Sliders page. From there, if you choose, you can then go to the individual archive pages to see the additional photos.
These might be in order of which ones are my favorites--but I'll also bring attention to the 4th and Virginia slider, which does a really good job of showing how Virginia Avenue has been straightened in the wake of the tunnel construction.

Regarding the discussion in the comments the other day about whether residential units will ever be built above the parking garages at Nats Park, they can follow the example of this architectural vomit but I would expect it wouldn’t be financially feasible until the rest of JD Land, the South Capitol Street corridor, and Buzzard Point are fully built-out.

JD, excellent sliders! Always a thrill to see the changes to the neighborhood.

I thought there was an error with the label on the one at 4th and Virginia. With the slider right in the middle, it looks as if that exact photo could have been taken 2 months ago, when the rubble from the Capper Senior center fire was still on the ground and the CQ rowhouses on the right.

I agree that using that space for the apartments is not a bad thing and I don't think they look all that bad either ... having cars at ground level is not great for the streetscape/street life but a building that is just parking is a total dead zone and the bigger it is, the bigger the dead zone.

Great work JD! It's really fun to look at all these.

@walt-- the difference between the apartments built above the Whole Foods garage and the apartments in the photo I posted the link to or any possible apartments that would be built above the Nats Park garage is that the apartments above the Whole Foods were designed to be part of that building, so the garage was engineered to accommodate them and the building was designed to blend in the garage.

Any apartments built above the Nats Park garage would likely require significant structural reinforcement for the garage, compromising the aesthetics of the structure.

Their pitching staff is pretty solid, the bullpen is uncertain. Rendon, Eaton, Trea Turner, Soto, and Victor Robles will provide solid offense. They have much better catchers than Matt Weiters. Did Ryan Zimmerman hit the links again this spring or did he play spring training? I think they will be either 1st or 2nd in the NL East.
