The Luncheon
With the wedding ceremony scheduled for 5 pm, there was time for the ladies to lunch. (Is this a good place to mention that the bride was up at 7 am playing blackjack?) The place was Olives on the Via Bellagio, with its fabulous views of the "lake" and the fountains. The food was wonderful, and the atmosphere was superb, but dang if almost everyone didn't spend a good part of the meal all misty-eyed. Jacqueline's grandmother presented the sixpence for the bride's shoe, a 1944 penny from the coin collection of Pauline's son Charles, Jacqueline's late uncle. Then both tables swooned as a waiter arrived with a box for the bride. In one of his final acts as mere boyfriend/fiance, Bill gave his bride a beautiful gold watch. The handkerchiefs that Shirley had presented to everyone came in very handy as the tears started to gush....
Oh, and we saw Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw on the way over.
Gilya, Careen, Sandra, The Bride, Heidi, and Jennifer strike a pose, with the Bellagio lake sparkling in the background.

While the kids sat at the card table in the kitchen (no, not really), the grownups swilled mimosas at their own table.

Oh my. I'm so glad there's a photographic record of what may have been The Greatest Desserts Ever. The white chocolate bread pudding with caramel Jack Daniel's sauce (foreground) was unbelievable.

Heidi curses the paparazzi, while Careen continues to be her usual sullen, depressed self.
