The Ceremony
How can you have been planning something for 15 months and then feel surprised and shocked when the moment finally arrives? It was an almost surreal feeling as everyone assembled for the ceremony. The groom admits to some feelings of panic, but the bride contends that she was never nervous as she waited in her little anteroom for the ceremony to begin.
And so they were married.
Celebrating the arrival of the moment when they finally get their kids married off, Bill's mother Molly (left) and Jacqueline's mother Shirley (right) prepare to walk down the aisle and begin the ceremony.

A quick kiss from The Big Guy (Jacqueline's father, Jim) before the chapel doors are opened.

While we take the notion of marriage as seriously as the next couple, having the nuptuals in Las Vegas spoke to our slightly more irreverent side. Rest assured that Elvis did not perform the ceremony; however, we did take a less formal approach by having the wedding party come down the aisle to "Chapel of Love" by the Dixie Cups. (The bride and her father entered to the traditional-to-the-point-of-being-kitschy "Here Comes the Bride.")

As Jim prepares to hand off his only daughter, the ceremony gets under way. From left,

One of the trade-offs of having your marriage performed in a casino chapel is that you don't get a lot of input (read: none) into the wording of the ceremony. We were therefore pleasantly surprised by the work of Richard Smith, the officiant. Short without being too short, moving without being goopy, the ceremony really struck the right chord. (We consider it a good sign that a number of attendees asked if we had written it ourselves.)

As Frank Sinatra's "Luck Be A Lady" kicks in, the new husband and wife make the turn and start to head out of the chapel.

Geez, people sure want us to do a lot of kissing. Well, after seven years of waiting, why not! (Kidding, people, kidding!)

Only a select few attendees caught sight of what
the bride had chosen to wear on her feet....
