The Tinkerbell Strategy, on vacation from Iraq and now stateside for your listening pleasure:

Patrick Rhode, FEMA's deputy director, insisted that "this has been probably one of the most efficient and effective responses in the country's history." (NYT, 9/2/05)

But maybe it's just that liberal media, ignoring the good news and only reporting the bad news, like gangs shooting at innocent civilians, people dying while waiting to be evacuated, and rats nibbling on dead bodies in the streets.

I don't suppose you saw Soledad O'Brien ripping the director of FEMA a new one when he told her that he'd only found out there were people at the convention center *yesterday morning.* I'm surprised he didn't just vaporize. I am definitely hearing the two of the three automatic defenses always used by federal employees when they fuck up: 1) On the contrary, I'm doing a GREAT job, or 2) I JUST found out about this five minutes ago. The third one is, 3) I asked the boss and he said it was okay.

Can you believe he said this! This is coming from a guy who has no experience in emergency management. No experience in anything really! He held 4 jobs in as many years under Gov. Bush and the went on to hold 5 jobs on 6 years under Pres. Bush. Can this guy hold a job?
