One Small Step for Cleanliness
This is not something that would normally be worth shouting from the hilltops, but I still thought I'd mention that this morning I got to take my first shower at home before work since Dec. 5. (The last week or so there have been evening bathing sessions, but workmen have prevented any morning use of the new bathroom.)
Now if the new shower would just be able to get rid of the house-wide stench from making last night's dinner with an onion that was a touch past its best days....

Bathroom, Day 99,999

We have a vanity mirror. And the last of the lights. And paint on the walls and the ceiling, thanks to The Man. (Well, almost all of the walls.) Still missing the shower glass, the cabinet glass inserts, and the Silestone for the threshold and for the tops of the little "garages" on the vanity, but the latter is being installed tomorrow, and the other two should arrive within the next week.
More photos on the Bathroom Pics page, of course.

AWOL, But With Good Reason
Yes, I've been AWOL for a few days, thanks to all sorts of goings-on at work and whatnot. But that doesn't mean that work hasn't been proceeding S-L-O-W-L-Y in the bathroom--still some big things left to go (mirror, shower screen), but the most important part is--the shower and bath are now functional! We can now get clean in the privacy of our own home! Frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
As for the new tub, the one that is bubbled with air jets instead of the old-fashioned Jacuzzi way, what we had thought might be a subtle fizzy-ness is instead the equivalent of being on high boil in Witchypoo's cauldron. But I'm sure it'll feel good after a weekend spent painting.

Today's Progress

Left: One of the two brand new holes in the hallway wall, created when the plumber discovered there was a leak somewhere in the pipes, in a wall that had already been closed off with new tile. Right: The showerhead that didn't get installed today, for reasons unknown to us. Not Pictured: The regulator and diverter that were each installed upside-down.
Despite these pleasant items, the Bathroom Pics page has a bunch of new shots today.

Bill's Original Design
The countertops are in fact being installed today, will have pictures later. In the meantime, I invite you to scroll to the very bottom of the Bathroom Pics page and see an image of Bill's original design for the bathroom, and then look at the recent photos and marvel at how spot-on the installation is. But you'll need to set aside your recognition that Bill is, in fact, insane, when you realize that his design was done completely in Microsoft Excel, to scale, with one square equaling one inch. (The final realization versus his vision for the wall paint color is still under intense negotiation.)

Bathroom
No bathroom pics really worth posting today, as it was merely Grouting Day. We thought it was also going to be Glass Block Day, but it was like watching cats hiss at each other when the Tile Guys and the Glass Block Guys saw each other, so the Glass Block Guys are returning tomorrow.
As for what remains? Let's see. Countertops, toilet, sink, cabinets over the toilet, drawers in the vanity, shower screen, medicine cabinets, mirror, lights/electrical, window treatment.... And then of course we'll have to paint it. If we don't divorce over the question of what color to use.
