In late 2010 and early 2011 much of the land on what looks to become the "Saints and Sinners" block bounded by Virginia, L, 7th and 8th changed hands, and two highly anticipated developments hit the boards. The National Community Church, owners of the successful Ebenezers Coffee House near Union Station, are intending to build a combination coffee house/performance space/offices on 10 lots they assembled. Around the same time, a developer has been working to open a beer garden on the northwest corner of 8th and L.

The 1000 block of 7th Street, north of L Street, across from the new Marine Bachelor Enlisted Quarters, in June 2004. (06/04)	The same buildings, 18 months later. These private residences will back up to the NCC property, but were not part of the land purchases. (12/05)
The venerable 7th and L Market, on the southwest corner of Square 906, has not been purchased, and it and the buildings seen on both sides remain in private hands (for now?). (3/3/11)	These two buildings on 8th--housing Wrenn's Barber Shop and Al's Famous Delicatessen--remain privately held as well, although they will soon have sinners to their left and saints to their right.
