(If you haven't scrolled down the main JDLand page in a while, don't forget about the Crime Reports feed and map
, which comes directly from MPD data.)

Pure trash - no doubt heading back to Potomac Gardens (aka = The Crime Factory).

DDOT was installing LED lights beneath the overpass last week so hopefully that will help deter crime there at night. I haven't been through at night yet to see how bright it is.

The LED lights are also part of the BID's "Water Pylons" art installation under the freeway:
(though it looks like the announced schedule isn't quite in line with what's being seen up to now)

Rule 1 - If you are walking at night and you see a group of 2 or 3. You change your direction and if they start following you, you run.
Rule 2 - Don't walk by yourself in a dark/ dog park without a scary dog. If you decide to walk at night at the dog park, I suggest you get a dog. Any mastiff dog will do. I prefer Cane Corso, Belgian Malinois or Argentinian Mastiff.
Rule 3 - Don't drink and walk. Get the apps for Uber (it is reliable and better than DC ******* taxi)

Awareness is critical. Look behind as you are walking and do not have music playing through earbuds. Although 10PM is not late, that area is a bit isolated. Always best to walk with more than one person. If you sense any trouble, keep your phone in your hand with 911 ready to go so you just need to hit the send button.
Additional lighting will certainly help. Although our area is much safer, things still happen.
As long as the victim is ok, that is the important thing.
Stay safe everyone.
