Why does DC have great Thai but absolutely crappy Korean/Vietnamese? And notice how you never see lots of Thai people (at least compared to Vietnamese and Korean) despite there being Thai restaurants everywhere?

I dunno. I don't see a lot of Scottish people despite there being McDonalds's everywhere. ;-)

White yuppies can't get enough Pad Thai.
'White yuppies love x' is pretty much the formula for why DC has lots of a given thing (e.g., cupcakes, craft beers, 'small plates', farmers markets) and hardly any of another given thing (e.g., 24 hour diners, Costco's, Bass Pro Shops).
Good to see Kruba opening soon though (I'm a white yuppy).

I could go for a Singha by the river on a nice hot day like today.

JD,
Apparently the some members of the 6D ANC are in a "catch-up" mode with the new reconfigured 6D02 Single Member District that now includes Captiol Riverfront residents in Velocity, Capitol Hill Tower and 909 New Jersey. The vote for the Kruba Thai restaurant was not unanimous with two abstaining votes including Cara Shockley who represents 6DO2.
Is there anyone that has not got the message that the Capitol Riverfront needs more restaurants? Hello!

This might be a good time for me to ask all prospective ANC 6D02 and 6D07 candidates to be good sports and good citizens and reference themselves as being in the race when posting here.

Kruba Thai will have 90 indoor seats and a summer garden with up to 80 seats. Looking forward to some drunken noodles ;-)

eric, the DC area has a lot of good korean and vietnamese but it is all in the suburbs, especially annandale (korean), seven corners / eden center (vietnamese), merrifield / vienna (korean) and rockville (both), among other places I am sure.
jd, i am not planning to run for anything! ;-)

Okay, everyone who isn't running post here, and we'll figure out the candidates by process of elimination! :-)
