I'm guessing that Facebook ad has the address wrong, though. It should probably be 1255 1st St. SE.
Also, it might be time to start watching for announcements from 1221 Van. They've got 26k of retail space to fill.

So, is anyone going to camp outside on Wednesday night to get one of the coveted free burritos?
says: (12/12/17 12:52 PM)
In other potential food news, I think there might be a hint in this recent tweet to me from a reader:
Might want to grab a pic of the old il Parco space, heard some delicious rumors from a wise guy there earlier in the week. Might be a coming soon, soon.
If it's the hint I think it is, wow. (I know nothing.)

I love Wise Guy pizza, def my one of my favorites. Especially the Garlic Knots.

I recently took a tour of 1221 van, their ground floor retail is supposedly going to be a restaurant/bar and coffee shop.
says: (12/12/17 8:31 PM)
With 26,000 SF, if it's only one restaurant and one coffee shop, they're gonna be pretty big.
(IOW, there will probably be more than just those two.)

So that makes it...4 pizza places in the JDland hood? That seems a bit saturated...
says: (12/13/17 7:59 AM)
You're telling me the massive 2 story "Baseball Brewery" isn't coming after all?
says: (12/13/17 9:39 AM)
Any idea what they were filming on New Jersey avenue near the whole foods. Whole production company there and several vintage cards. Shut down the street for a while as well.
says: (12/13/17 11:39 AM)
Wiseguy Pizza would be PERFECT in the Il Parco spot. Have I not been saying we need pizza by the slice? In case you missed it, we NEED pizza by the slice!
@jdc - I'm having a mind burp. What are the 4 pizza places?
says: (12/13/17 11:41 AM)
My guess is the Lifetime biopic of JD.
says: (12/13/17 11:47 AM)
The car in that DDOT video JD just tweeted was kind of vintage.
says: (12/13/17 11:49 AM)
Given all of the members of Congress who live in these buildings it could also be an expose`.
says: (12/13/17 3:29 PM)
@JDC - agree with Walt, what are the 4? I can't think of any other Pizza places in JDLand. Maybe some places that serve pizza (Justins? Maybe the Osteria Morini spinoff), but I can't think of any places that are known for it.
Also, their pizza is ideal for carry out and also perfect for something that is quick and easy to get for families at the ice skating rink.
says: (12/13/17 3:31 PM)
Not my biopic, but I was actually interviewed on camera in the hood today,so next best thing.
says: (12/13/17 4:02 PM)
I'll take a shot naming all of the pizza places:
>All-Purpose Pizzeria, to open in Dock 79
>Oath Pizza, to open in Insignia on M
Also places that sell pizza, but not pizza places per se
>Open Road Grill, to open in 99M
>Shilling Canning Company, to open in Arris
says: (12/13/17 4:21 PM)
Whether it's good or not but the original pizza place even if it came from SW: Domino's
says: (12/13/17 5:21 PM)
It did not come from SW! 1200 South Capitol, SE corner of South Cap and M.
says: (12/13/17 6:04 PM)
Thanks Bryan - I totally forgot about All Purpose and Oath.
Wiseguys and All Purpose are very different types of pizza places; it would be like comparing District Taco to Agua 301.
I have never been to Oath; it looks closer to Wiseguys than All Purpose, but still different - styles of pizza, selling whole pies vs by the slice, etc.
And if the neighborhood can have a Chopt and Sweetgreen, Bonchon and Buffalo Wild Wings, Subway and Taylor Gourmet and Roti and Cava Grill, I think it can handle Oath and Wiseguys.

Bryan -- nice pizza sleuthing! I didn't know Bethesda Bagel serves pizza. On bagels? or regular pizza dough? I wasn't too impressed with their bagel sandwiches, so I haven't been back since its first week.
As for the pizza delivery service companies: is it just me? Or would anyone else feel a little better if the food boxes were "sealed" at the store before the delivery people take possession? I won't order from Dominos anymore due to an "incident" which I won't detail here. All they need is a tamper-resistant sticker to see if the box has been opened.
says: (12/14/17 9:51 AM)
Walt, I know the Dupont Bethesda Bagels sells pizza bagels so I'm guessing it's the same here in JDland.
I'm sorry about your pizza incident but it seems tampering could happen in the store during preparation as well as during delivery...so not sure if sealing the box would make a huge difference, though it seems it might have in your case?
says: (12/14/17 10:01 AM)
I always pick up my Dominos. But this is because I'm cheap and it's a 2 minute drive each way.
says: (12/14/17 10:39 AM)
I also forgot another upcoming Pizza place: Declaration, opening in F1rst.
As for Bethesda Bagel, their menu lists both Pizza Bagels and NY Style Pizza by the slice, though I have yet to try either. I've never been in there around lunch time.
says: (12/14/17 11:51 AM)
I've eaten the Bethesda Bagels lunchtime pizza - it's actual pizza sold by the large slice for a few bucks. Pretty decent in my opinion, but I'm probably the worlds worst pizza critic because I like all of it. Haven't tried the pizza bagels though.

the movie filming on new jersey is called backseat, its about dick cheney. christian bale is the lead, but had a bunch of big names in it.
says: (12/14/17 7:25 PM)
@sameter: Huh. Didn't that stretch of New Jersey look, a little, uh, different back during the Bush administration? (e.g. link
I guess maybe they're trying to catch some sweet capitol dome establishing shots.
says: (12/15/17 9:33 AM)
Yes, I was thinking Declaration, Oath, and also All Purpose as the 'existing' ones.
says: (12/15/17 10:01 AM)
Not sure, after reading about the movie it goes back to the 60's i believe. but yes, i would agree its most likely for the dome shot.
