Page Through from Before to After

On Wednesday night the First Police District experienced five armed robberies within 30 minutes, two of which were in the neighborhood and one just north of the freeway. I'll quote the summary e-mail from the MPD-1D Yahoo mailing list:

Suspects 1 & 2 approached from behind and pushed C-1, displayed a black gun stating “take out what you have” last seen on foot R/O unit block L Street NE on foot. 2 B/M, red puffy jackets, thin build med complexion. Ran towards Navy Yard metro, the suspects obtained the complainant’s iPhone & CC.
Unit block of K Street SE; 15-167-764
The suspect approached from behind, displayed a black gun, “give me what you got”, S-1 fled on foot EB on K Street, the suspect was described as 5’9”, 140-150 lbs., blue jacket, black ski mask
Also:
3rd & G Street SE; 15-167-771
The complainant was talking on a cell phone, approached from behind, S-1 told her to be quiet, she dropped her purse and iPhone; suspect fled on foot with items, C-1 observed a gun in S-1’s hand. 2 B/M 15-19 years old, no clothing description, possible grey jacket
Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s Text Tip Line by texting a message to 50411.
The other two robberies were at 9th and F NE and 13th and E SE.

Those are the same ones, just with more official locations once the full report was made.

Early in the evening, too.

This isn't good news. Does

Does anyone know who we can call to get the street lights turned on New Jersey and Tingey? It gets very dark back there at night and at least one block of lights has been out for a while.

Sophia Monster says: (10/22/15 11:12 AM)
Any indication of the age of the offenders?

MJM says: (10/22/15 9:14 PM)
The alert indicated 15-19 y/o.

Thomas Edsall of the NYT had a very good column this week about the increase in crime around Capitol Hill.

Two shootings this morning. 1400 Block of 1st Street SW and 13th and PA Ave SE. Sounds like the 13th and PA Ave was retaliation for the earlier incident. Such wonderful news we are having this week.

JHUGrad says: (10/23/15 3:43 PM)
Looks like the suspects were caught! Great job MPD!

@BLT - Contact the ANC Commish, Meredith Fascett. She is responsive and produces results! She recently worked with DDOT to get more lighting further north on NJ Ave.

TheOnyxGuy says: (10/23/15 11:16 PM)
Does anyone know what happened around 9pm or so near 100 I St SE tonight? Several police cars (marked and unmarked) were there until 11pm. Was this another robbery?!

conngs0 says: (10/23/15 11:50 PM)
Looks like the suspects arrested were from PG. However, there have been some fairly regular shootings by Patomac Avenue Metro and historically there has been quite a bit of violent crime outside the Greenleaf area on the other side of South Capitol from our neighborhood. I wonder if any of this will have an impact on the decisions on the development in the lots next to Canal Park...

SWag says: (10/24/15 7:09 AM)
@theOnyxGuy - yes, another robbery! Was at Bonchon and manager said cop told him they apprehended the suspect(s).

Tom says: (10/24/15 10:02 PM)
There goes the delusional neighborhood. I'm just sure things will get better (maybe, with more gentrification). As an economy deteriorates these things pick up.

"Give me what you've got..." Flash your 9mm and its funny how the .38's always run away. If you get shot/killed/permanently disabled, don't worry, the MPD might apprehend them later.
