Page Through from Before to After
Within the past few days, I've gotten messages from a few people asking What's the Deal With the Velocity condos project at First and L, noting that construction has taken a vacation recently (like me!). I've been told that it should be starting back up again within the next week or so, and that it's still on schedule to be finished next year. It's still a condo project (not switching to rentals), and about 40 of the building's 200 units have been sold.

What do the 40 condo owners feel about the Nat's firework's BOOM BOOM? Sort of like buying a house near an airport then complaining about the noise (sort of). Spouse said it was a *hot* topic of conversation on the Cap Hill MOTH site -- with major complaint being dogs not liking the racket... I'm with the dogs, although the fireworks themselves are pretty.

I'm at CHT, and I'm not bothered (nor are my dogs) by the fireworks. I kinda like them, actually. When I hear them, I look out the window to watch the fireworks, then switch the TV to the game to see what happened.
As for the Velocity folks, they don't live there yet and therefore probably don't have an opinion on the fireworks.

Also at CHT and can't see the fireworks but can hear them...doesn't really bother me since it is only on weekends.
Now...the flyover during the opening game...did NOT see that coming and that got the blood flowing...I'm used to police copters hovering, not low-flying jets :). Of course if I had a problem with noises I wouldn't have moved 3 blocks away from a 40,000 seat stadium...that would have been silly.

I hear the fireworks from my house and I find it inspiring. If I wanted quiet, I would live in the suburbs. I pay a premium (even though I live in a quite small place) so that I can be in a vibrant city. The last thing I want is for the city to become a simulation of a suburb or backcountry environment.

I did purchase at Velocity (14th floor looking toward stadium) and can't wait to move in. I am looking forward to the festivities of fireworks on Fridays. Like the others, if I wanted quiet then I would not have purchased where I did. My guess is that once Half Street opens for business, the fireworks will be the least of it... I can't wait for the party to begin.
