Construction of the tunnel and near surface structures under Division A is now complete. Therefore, the well installed as part of this division is no longer needed and will be abandoned. The monitoring well will be abandoned by either removing the well casing or perforating the well casing in the screened interval and filling the well with a cement bentonite slurry, or by backfilling with medium, hydrated, bentonite pellets in accordance with the well regulations (1831.5). The wells will be completed as two-inch diameter PVC wells with 0.020-inch machine slot screen and PVC casing. For the construction of each monitoring well, filter sand will be placed in the annulus around the screened PVC and two feet above the top of the screen.
